A friend and I are attempting to play classic mode on cncnet over the internet. We can both connect, and get to the in game lobby, but we can't see each other. We are each alone in the lobby.

I have tried hosting in both p2p mode, and also tunneling mode, but it doesn't make a difference. We both have 8054 udp forwarded.

We both have the exact same version of DTA.

As a small test, I have both a laptop and desktop on my lan, and within the same network, I used one pc to connect via p2p, and the other via tunneling, and they did see each other and were able to play. I also tried both tunneling, and they both worked as well. So I can definitely verify that p2p connect from my main computer is working ok. Any thoughts on why my friend and I can't see each other in the lobby?

As an alternative, we tried using Hamachi, and starting a lan game from within the game itself instead of using the launcher, but we couldn't see each other that way either.

Thanks

First of all make sure that you launch DTA by clicking the "Play on CnCNet" button and not the "Launch" button.
Do both of you see the "[NOTIFIER] Welcome to CnCNet!" message when you enter the lobby? If you don't see that message it means you're actually playing in LAN mode (Local Area Network) and not on CnCNet.

If you do both see that message, try disabling CnCNet's "Use faster peer-to-peer connection" option (having it disabled is generally more stable than having it enabled). To find this option you need to click the "Settings" button in the small window that appears for 3 seconds right after you've clicked on the "Play on CnCNet" button.
