Hi there!
I wonder if you tried to implement the feature, that the ai is building walls. I remember that there's a feature in TS which allows the ai to do so. Years ago when I played TS, I managed it to let it build walls, but as far as I remember, the results weren't very satisfying.
Did you consider that allready?
Oh and, how about lowering the costs for the walls? I can't remember any player who built walls in TD or RA1 because they were just too expensive. Or do you think it's a bad idea because this isn't TD-like? I would appreachiate it, but I don't know if it's right because it's a conversion mod.

Actually, the main reason why people didn't build walls in TD or RA is because all wall pieces had to be placed one by one, while in DTA they can be placed 5 at a time, just like in TS.
Nice, didn't try that. If I now had automatic doors, I would never fear those nasty invisible apcs again

I have considered making gates actually, but graphics for them have to be made first of course

Gates for enhanced mode would be awesome.

I think if walls should be somehow modified they should be more expensive. The maps in DTA are so small it's easy to build a wall from your base to the other side of the map (with TS's new wall building system which allows building 5 wall pieces with the cost of one).
So, in my opinion the cost should be leaved as it is.

Yes, the cost will be left as is. Also, the AI building walls in DTA won't be any more satisfying than in vanilla TS, other than the fact the AI won't be placing component towers inside walls anymore (for some reason when the AI placed a component tower on a wall section, it wouldn't remove the wall section like when a human player did it, but instead it'd be placed on top of the wall and you'd see both a wall section and a component tower on a single cell).

Maybe you could enable AI wall building on certain maps
As DTA has no elevation like TS the main AI hinderance would be cliffs/shore etc
If you had a map( s ) where the starting locations were open flat expanses the AI Wall building would 'generally' work ok i'd imagine

Ya well not to sure on how AI would find the walls beneficial, might have to recode them to us them more properly.

There's no way to recode how the AI uses walls that I'm aware of...
