Hey guys! I Love your project and have been playing it off and on again for 2 years now with friends, but when we updated recently we were confused by the removal of the "BASES" option in the lobby screen. This effectively removes the "Scavenger" gametype you recently implemented! Is there any way to still play Scavenger? Because me and my friends loved playing it and it would be a real bummer to see it go =(

I hate to double post, but can I get some feedback on this topic? Even a simple "yes" or "no" will suffice!

The Scavenger game mode was previously implemented as a set of modified maps and to reduce the work that had to be done before releasing DTA 1.12, it was easiest to just remove these maps (they'd have required many changes and fixes to work correctly in DTA 1.12).
The removal of the Scavenger game mode is temporary however; thanks to the CnCNet5 spawner that DTA uses now, it will be possible to include the game mode without having separate maps for them in the future. To make this work, DTA's client/launcher will also need to be modified a bit however and Rampastring (who's responsible for programming DTA's launcher/client) won't be able to do any work until at least spring.

So the Scavenger game mode won't be gone forever, but it'll take at least a couple months before we'll be able to re-implement it.

Edit:
As I mentioned in the latest news post on the front page, these forums are actually only intended for archiving purposes from now on and thus won't be checked very frequently anymore. If you want a quicker response, you're best off to instead make your posts at DTA's main forum, located at PPM.

Thank you! This is what we all assumed as well, that this was only a temporary thing until you get the new bugs ironed out with 1.12. Until then I shall eagerly await the return of scavenger. Keep up the good work guys!!
