When I go to launch the game it doesn't do it. I get: "this product requires a 16bit pixel depth". I'm not sure what it is or what I'm doing wrong.

Make sure the Windowed option (the topmost checkbox) is disabled. Windowed mode only works when your desktop colors have been set to 16-bit.
