When the game starts, it says "Error-Unable to set the video mode". It doesn't play.

Have you tried any other screen sizes?
All sizes tried. But it doesn't work, too.

What is your operating system (I'm assuming Windows 7 x64, but not sure about it with the classic theme)? Have you tried playing other old 2D games, like RA1 or RA2?
For a test, try switching to 16-bit colors on your desktop and run DTA in Windowed mode, and see if it works.
There shouldn't be a problem with the CPU or RAM, but I don't think any of us staff has a card from the GTX 5xx series. There should be a way to get it to work though.

RAM: 4G

I don't personally have much else to say before you try this (and report back the results):
In addition you could test if other old 2D games like RA work on your system or is it a problem with only DTA.
Other staff members might have additional ideas though.

I did all things last night as you said, but it didnt work. So I have just done all your directions once again. As a result, it works. Maybe I had a mistake in switching to 16-bit colors. Sorry to bother you and thanks for your help.
