I'm using Windows 7 Starter, I'm more than sure I installed everything correctly, yet I still get the above error!
I even lowered my resolution to 800x600, and the default 1024x600. It doesn't work...

I've never had this happen in TS myself, so it sounds pretty strange to me. Try settings the resolution to 640x480 in Settings_DTA.ini and see if it starts then. If it does start, see what resolutions it offers you in the ingame settings.

Have you tried any other games (preferably 2D and released at the same time with TS)? Do they work fine?

The only other thing I can think of (if other games do run fine that is of course) is to run DTA in windowed mode (since your screen resolution might be too unusual for the game to deal with). To do this, first set your color-depth to 16-bit (right-click on the desktop, go to Screen resolution, Advanced settings, go to the Monitor tab and under Colors select "High Color (16 bit)". After that create a shortcut to DTA.exe, open the properties of the shortcut and after the target -win (after the text that's already there). Now run the shortcut to start DTA in windowed mode and see if it works.
By the way, if other games won't run properly either, make sure to download and install the latest graphics drivers.

Hey, I'll try that out, but I'll see if the new Launcher helps. However, I have always been able to play 2D Games with ease, even CnC 3 with low settings!
I'll post to keep y'all updated.
SUCCESS! The new launcher solves all my problems! Thanks! ........
I spoke to soon! LOL, now it crashes as soon as I look at the MCV.... Someone shoot me now -_- I'll have a look around for possible fixes!

Have you already tried installing the latest drivers for your graphics card?
