Not sure whats going on, install was simple enough for any stone age cave man to figure out, just seems that it likes to crash on me every 5 minutes into a skirmish during classic. Have not tried Enhanced Mode yet. I learned that the "except" file in the directory is where it seems to dump crash logs and it appears to be wanting to do something but for some reason (Im running Vista and running the game in Admin) the computer isnt letting it. Heres what it said exactly:

Error code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Description: The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
Access address:06BAF39A was read from.
Exception occurred at 0046C7A7

If i need to disable UAC then i might have to figure something else out, as i like the setting enabled even if its annoying as all hell.

Ah, seems i can attach the "except" file, so i guess ill do that.

When it crashes, does it actually give you an internal error dialog or does the game just freeze? Except.txt files are only generated when an internal error occurs (and when this happens, a previously generated except.txt file is overwritten), so when the game just freezes or when no "Internal error" dialog appears (even when a normal windows dialog appears instead), no except.txt file will be generated.

In case the game just freezes; freezes are known to occur on a several desert maps (from what I recall these maps are "Voice in the Darkness", "Hollow Grave" and "Rivers of Refener", although there might be another), but I've already traced back the error to a certain tile set and also already fixed it for future versions of DTA.

Must have just been some freak errors or something, played two games in both classic and enhanced on desert and temperate maps and didnt freeze/crash at all. Ah well, thanks anyway.
